  There was no booklet of services available. I had absolutely no way of getting my personal clothing laundered and just had to hang on for the entire week. There was no way I could get a magazine to read.

  I had similar experience to other reviewer "Louise". Not sure how I survived my ordeal. It was horrible! Stay away if you can! I picked up an eye infection after having knee surgery, but the rest of the story is too long and horrible to even begin to tell you. Just. Dont. Do. It. Run away!

  I was discharged from the hospital while unable to sit in a car to travel home. Nobody cared if I was going to a safe environment or not. I was unable to walk unassisted to the pharmacy to have my prescriptions filled. There was no offer of a wheelchair. Once home I was unable to walk from the vehicle to my front door unassisted. No attempt was made prior to discharge to enable me to access the available services so that shopping, cleaning, etc was possible. These services are provided through Commonwealth programs for all citizens 65 and older, but I was denied access by Darwin Private Hospital while I was a patient.

  Does anyone know of any other hospital that allows people to smoke on the hospital grounds. The upstairs outdoor area for patients is separated by a screen, one side no smoking, the other side it's permitted. WTF is up with that. Anyone who doesn't smoke is subject to the smoke of those who do. I don't want to go outside, I'm here because of a respiratory infection, the last thing I want to do is add cigarette smoke to that. Surely this is not acceptable by any standards.

  I tried to complain but my complaints were ignored. I tried on six occasions and was repeatedly met with rudeness by the hospital admin staff.

  When I developed a fever the doctor, not my specialist, claimed it was because my husband had brought infection into my room. The same doctor told me to take a swab of my rectum, when actually it was to be taken from the vagina. She did not even have sufficient English to know the names of basic body parts!!! Thank goodness one of the nurses rescued me that time. Why is that doctor allowed near anyone at all?

  The level of service and care was second to none though and the food menu excellent. I would have given 5 stars if not for the smoking area.

  We had an excellent experience with the delivery of our first baby. The room was sensational, the staff were wonderful, we could not have asked for a better experience. We would definitely recommend having a baby here. If we are still in Darwin for baby number 2 we are definitely coming back.

  I was in a private room at Darwin Private Hospital for a week and in that time the toilet was cleaned only once. The floor was washed only once. Dreadful standard of hygiene. Dreadful standard of staff training.

  My complaints centre not on the nurses but on the management of this hospital. They are lazy and ignore patient welfare. Darwin Private Hospital is not a good place if you need care. You are putting yourself at risk the moment you walk through the door.

  Stay away!! Far away!! Appalling experience. I feel I am lucky to have survived. I'm not completely sure I have survived. I'm certainly damaged. I was definitely treated as a second class citizen.
